[596] For whomever, wherever, the form base (rūpāyatana) ceases, has the mind base (manāyatana) ceased for that one there?
For those attaining final Nibbāna in the Pure Abodes (Suddhāvāsa) and for those passing away from the non-percipient beings (asaññasattā), the form base ceases for them there, but the mind base has not ceased for them there. For the others, passing away from five-constituent existence (pañcavokāra), the form base ceases for them there and the mind base has ceased.
Or, for whomever, wherever, the mind base has ceased, does the form base cease for that one there?
For those being reborn into five-constituent existence and for the formless beings (arūpā), the mind base has ceased for them there, but the form base does not cease for them there. For those passing away from five-constituent existence, the mind base has ceased for them there and the form base ceases.
