[665] For whomever, wherever, the eye base (cakkhāyatana) has ceased, will the mind base (manāyatana) cease for that one there?
For those attaining final Nibbāna in the five-constituent [plane] (pañcavokāra), the eye base has ceased for them there, but the mind base will not cease for them there. For the other five-constituent beings, for them there both the eye base has ceased and the mind base will cease.
Or rather, for whomever, wherever, the mind base will cease, has the eye base ceased for that one there?
For those being reborn in the Pure Abodes (Suddhāvāsa) and for formless beings (arūpa), the mind base will cease for them there, but the eye base has not ceased for them there. For the other five-constituent beings, for them there both the mind base will cease and the eye base has ceased.
