[695] "For whomever the eye base (cakkhāyatana) does not arise, does the form base (rūpāyatana) not cease for him?"
For those with form (sarūpaka) who are passing away, the eye base does not arise for them, but it is not the case that the form base does not cease for them. For those without eye (acakkhuka) who are being reborn and for those without form (arūpaka) who are passing away, both the eye base does not arise for them and the form base does not cease.
"Or rather, for whomever the form base does not cease, does the eye base not arise for him?"
For those with eye (sacakkhuka) who are being reborn, the form base does not cease for them, but it is not the case that the eye base does not arise for them. For those without form who are passing away and for those without eye who are being reborn, both the form base does not cease for them and the eye base does not arise.
