[699] For whomever the nose base (ghānāyatana) does not arise, does the mind base (manāyatana) not cease for that one?
For those with mind (sacittaka) who are passing away, the nose base does not arise for them, yet it is not the case that the mind base does not cease for them. For those without the nose (aghānaka) who are being reborn and for those without mind (acittaka) who are passing away, for them both the nose base does not arise and the mind base does not cease.
Or else, for whomever the mind base does not cease, does the nose base not arise for that one?
For those with the nose (saghānaka) who are being reborn, the mind base does not cease for them, yet it is not the case that the nose base does not arise for them. For those without mind who are passing away and for those without the nose who are being reborn, for them both the mind base does not cease and the nose base does not arise.
