Abhidhammapiṭaka · Yamaka (2) · Vol. 39 · Section 1027

[1027] For whomever the life faculty (jīvitindriya) arises, has the joy faculty (somanassindriya) arisen for that one? Yes. Or rather, for whomever the joy faculty has arisen, does the life faculty arise for that one? For all who are passing away, and at the moment of dissolution (bhaṅgakkhaṇa) of a mind (citta) in the course of existence (pavatta), the joy faculty has arisen for them, but the life faculty does not arise for them. For all who are being reborn, and at the moment of arising (uppādakkhaṇa) of a mind in the course of existence, both the joy faculty has arisen for them and the life faculty arises.
