[1221] For whomever, wherever, the faith faculty (saddhindriya) does not arise, will the mind faculty (manindriya) not arise for that one there?
For all [beings] at the moment of dissolution (bhaṅgakkhaṇa) of mind (citta), and at the moment of arising (uppādakkhaṇa) of a mind dissociated from faith (saddhāvippayutta), the faith faculty does not arise for them there; but it is not the case that the mind faculty will not arise for them there. At the moment of dissolution of the final mind (pacchimacitta), and for non-percipient beings (asaññasattā), the faith faculty does not arise for them there, and the mind faculty will not arise.
Or: for whomever, wherever, the mind faculty will not arise, does the faith faculty not arise for that one there?
At the moment of arising of the final mind, the mind faculty will not arise for them there; but it is not the case that the faith faculty does not arise for them there. At the moment of dissolution of the final mind, and for non-percipient beings, the mind faculty will not arise for them there, and the faith faculty does not arise.
