[1348] Whoever does not fully understand (parijānāti) the eye faculty (cakkhundriya), does he not realize (sacchikaroti) the perfect-knower faculty (aññātāvindriya)?
One who realizes the highest fruit (aggaphala) does not fully understand the eye faculty, but it is not the case that he does not realize the perfect-knower faculty. Excepting the one endowed with the highest path (aggamaggasamaṅgī) and the Arahant, the remaining persons do not fully understand the eye faculty and do not realize the perfect-knower faculty.
Or rather, whoever does not realize the perfect-knower faculty, does he not fully understand the eye faculty?
The one endowed with the highest path does not realize the perfect-knower faculty, but it is not the case that he does not fully understand the eye faculty. Excepting the one endowed with the highest path and the Arahant, the remaining persons do not realize the perfect-knower faculty and do not fully understand the eye faculty.
