[169] For whom wholesome phenomena (kusalā dhammā) do not arise, will unwholesome phenomena (akusalā dhammā) not arise for him? For all [beings] at the moment of the dissolution of mind (citta); at the moment of the arising of a mind dissociated from the wholesome (kusala-vippayutta-citta); for those who have attained cessation (nirodhasamāpannā); and for non-percipient beings (asaññasattā) — for these, wholesome phenomena do not arise, but it is not the case that unwholesome phenomena will not arise for them. At the moment of the dissolution of the supreme path (aggamagga); for Arahants; and for those who will attain the supreme path in immediate succession to a certain mind, at the moment of the dissolution of that mind — for these, wholesome phenomena do not arise and unwholesome phenomena will not arise.
Or rather, for whom unwholesome phenomena will not arise, do wholesome phenomena not arise for him? At the moment of the arising of the supreme path; and for those who will attain the supreme path in immediate succession to a certain mind, at the moment of the arising of that mind — for these, unwholesome phenomena will not arise, but it is not the case that wholesome phenomena do not arise for them. At the moment of the dissolution of the supreme path; for Arahants; and for those who will attain the supreme path in immediate succession to a certain mind, at the moment of the dissolution of that mind — for these, unwholesome phenomena will not arise and wholesome phenomena do not arise.
