[986] For whomever, wherever, the eye faculty (cakkhundriya) will not arise, will the equanimity faculty (upekkhindriya) not arise for that one there?
For formless beings (arūpa): the eye faculty will not arise for them there, but it is not the case that the equanimity faculty will not arise for them there. For beings in their final existence (pacchimabhavika) and for non-percipient beings (asaññasatta): both the eye faculty will not arise for them there and the equanimity faculty will not arise.
Or rather: for whomever, wherever, the equanimity faculty will not arise, will the eye faculty not arise for that one there?
For those possessing eyes who, having been reborn with joy (somanassa), will attain final Nibbāna: the equanimity faculty will not arise for them there, but it is not the case that the eye faculty will not arise for them there. For beings in their final existence and for non-percipient beings: both the equanimity faculty will not arise for them there and the eye faculty will not arise.
