[148] A phenomenon (dhamma) with applied thought (vitakka) and sustained thought (vicāra) and a phenomenon without applied thought, with sustained thought only, are a condition, as object condition (ārammaṇa-paccaya), for a phenomenon without applied thought and without sustained thought.
Aggregates (khandhā) with applied thought and sustained thought, and applied thought, are a condition, as object condition, for knowledge (ñāṇa) penetrating the minds of others (cetopariyañāṇa), for knowledge of the recollection of past lives (pubbenivāsānussatiñāṇa), for knowledge of beings faring according to their kamma (yathākammūpagañāṇa), and for knowledge of the future (anāgataṃsañāṇa).
Taking as object aggregates with applied thought and sustained thought, and applied thought, there arise aggregates without applied thought and without sustained thought.
