[164] A phenomenon (dhamma) without thought and without examination (avitakka-avicāra) is a condition for a phenomenon without thought, with examination only (avitakka-vicāramatta), by predominance condition (adhipati-paccaya).
Object-predominance (ārammaṇādhipati): Noble ones (ariyā), having emerged from jhāna without thought and without examination … from the path (magga) … from fruition (phala) … review the fruition, esteeming it; having esteemed that, thought (vitakka) arises. Noble ones review Nibbāna, esteeming it; Nibbāna is a condition for the path that is without thought, with examination only, for fruition, and for thought, by predominance condition. One relishes and delights in the eye … the base (vatthu), and in the aggregates (khandhā) without thought and without examination, and in examination (vicāra), esteeming them; having esteemed that, thought arises.
