[2082] An external phenomenon (bahiddhā dhamma) is a condition for an internal phenomenon (ajjhatta dhamma) by predominance condition (adhipati-paccaya). Object-predominance (ārammaṇādhipati): the noble ones, having given weight to Nibbāna, review it. Nibbāna is a condition for change-of-lineage (gotrabhū), for cleansing (vodāna), for the path, for fruition, by predominance condition. Having given weight to the external eye (cakkhu) … the base (vatthu) … the external aggregates (khandhā), one relishes and delights in them; having given weight to that, lust (rāga) … view (diṭṭhi) arises.
