[242] A phenomenon (dhamma) without applied thought (vitakka) and without sustained thought (vicāra) is a condition, by way of mutuality condition (aññamañña-paccaya), for a phenomenon with applied thought and sustained thought. At the moment of rebirth-linking (paṭisandhikkhaṇa), the base (vatthu) is a condition, by way of mutuality condition, for the aggregates (khandhā) with applied thought and sustained thought.
