[286] A phenomenon (dhamma) without applied thought and without sustained thought (avitakka-avicāra) is a condition, by decisive-support condition (upanissaya-paccaya), for a phenomenon without applied thought, with sustained thought only (avitakka-vicāramatta), and for a phenomenon without applied thought and without sustained thought — object decisive-support (ārammaṇūpanissaya), proximity decisive-support (anantarūpanissaya), natural decisive-support (pakatūpanissaya). Natural decisive-support: faith (saddhā) that is without applied thought and without sustained thought … lodging (senāsana) is a condition, by decisive-support condition, for faith without applied thought, with sustained thought only, for virtue (sīla), for learning (suta), for generosity (cāga), for wisdom (paññā), and for sustained thought (vicāra).
