Paccanīyapaṭṭhāna

[311] A phenomenon (dhamma) with thought-conception and with discursive thought (savitakka-savicāra) is a condition, by repetition condition (āsevana-paccaya), for a phenomenon without thought-conception and with mere discursive thought (avitakka-vicāramatta) and for a phenomenon without thought-conception and without discursive thought (avitakka-avicāra). The preliminary work (parikamma) for the jhāna without thought-conception and with mere discursive thought is a condition, by repetition condition, for the jhāna without thought-conception and with mere discursive thought and for discursive thought (vicāra). Change-of-lineage (gotrabhū) is a condition for the path without thought-conception and with mere discursive thought and for discursive thought; cleansing (vodāna) is a condition, by repetition condition, for the path without thought-conception and with mere discursive thought and for discursive thought.
