[743] A phenomenon (dhamma) to be abandoned neither by seeing nor by development is a condition, by presence condition (atthi-paccaya), for a phenomenon to be abandoned by seeing. Prenascence (purejāta): One relishes and delights in the eye; on account of that, lust (rāga) to be abandoned by seeing arises; wrong view (diṭṭhi) arises; doubt (vicikicchā) arises; grief (domanassa) arises. The ear … one relishes the base (vatthu). The base is a condition, by presence condition, for the aggregates (khandhā) to be abandoned by seeing.
