[551] A phenomenon (dhamma) that is both a defilement (kilesa) and defiled (saṅkiliṭṭha) is a condition, by object condition (ārammaṇa-paccaya), for a phenomenon that is both a defilement and defiled:
With defilements as object, defilements arise.
The root should be made.
With defilements as object, aggregates (khandhā) that are defiled but not defilements arise.
The root should be made.
With defilements as object, defilements and the associated aggregates arise.
A phenomenon that is defiled but not a defilement is a condition, by object condition, for a phenomenon that is defiled but not a defilement:
With aggregates that are defiled but not defilements as object, aggregates that are defiled but not defilements arise.
The root should be made.
With aggregates that are defiled but not defilements as object, defilements arise.
The root should be made.
With aggregates that are defiled but not defilements as object, defilements and the associated aggregates arise.
The other three should also be made.
