[70] Bhikkhus, when a bhikkhu possesses another three factors as well, the Saṅgha, if it so wishes, may impose upon him the act of demotion (niyassakamma): he is one failed in virtue with respect to the higher virtue (adhisīla); he is one failed in conduct with respect to the higher conduct (ajjhācāra); he is one failed in view with respect to view gone beyond (atidiṭṭhi).
Bhikkhus, when a bhikkhu possesses these three factors, the Saṅgha, if it so wishes, may impose upon him the act of demotion.
